The Wychwood Singers started in 2010 under the leadership of Robin Martin-Oliver as a small community choir (less than 10 founder members) singing on a weekly basis in the local library. Since that time we have grown steadily until today we have 55 people of mixed abilities singing and performing from our base at the New Beaconsfield Hall in Shipton-under-Wychwood. Music is arranged for Soprano, Alto, Tenor and of course Bass.

No auditions are needed to join us and we welcome both experienced singers who can read music as well as those who are new to singing and choirs. All you need is lots of enthusiasm to join our group. We sing a whole range of music from rock to choral with everything in between. We rehearse during term times on a Tuesday lunchtime and you will find us a happy and cheerful group who are keen to welcome new members.

Sadly our Musical Director Robin passed away in the summer of 2018 but we are delighted to welcome Lizzie Soden as our new MD. These are exciting times for the choir as we tackle new music as well as continuing to sing a much loved back catalogue. We aim to perform at least 2 or 3 main concerts per year as well as a number of community events, weddings etc.

Singing in a choir is huge fun and for many of us it is a real highlight of the week. Lizzie sends out rehearsal tracks so we can all practice our parts at home. Along with Lizzie and our piano accompanist Lydia Tomita we strive to improve every week and it’s amazing how good everyone sounds all together.
